Motive
I had multiple drives on my walk. As you can see on the
map, it was flora and fauna such as the trees in my neighborhood, stray
cats, and ultimately music. My friends and family have told me that I
cannot listen to an entire song without getting bored and changing it,
and I decided to put that to the test on this walk. I found their
comments to be true. On the walk, certain sights triggered memories I
associate with specific songs, and I found myself searching song titles
by name to listen to them. I grew up listening to salsa romantica, so it
has a sense of nostalgia, but the more I walked and found the sun coming
out, I switched to something more upbeat, which is where my love for
indie pop and Spanish indie-pop comes in. When my mind wandered, I
switched up the drives, so trees and stray cats came into the picture. I
would say the walk triggered a lot of fond memories.
Poem
Distant waves roll in. White and pure. As I watch
the
clouds, their tale lies in my wake. They weep for light
on a day as
dark as death—a single breath, and I am
back to where I started—a
promise to keep. To return
when clouds reap—creeping over the
horizon, allowing
me to walk the earth again.
